From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in strength within the urban setting.
Note: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
The Reason for Division
With an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might seem mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
First, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The traitor then paid off his debts and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a individual motive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, desires vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and advises that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- But, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the group access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The grateful character swore a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- The fighter is marked for death by House Halovar.
This results in them few options but to journey toward Timmony in search of the antagonist.
